The transition to fall can mean dryer and slightly cooler air. It can be difficult to stay hydrated, which is the key to keeping ourselves in balance and our immune system strong. Check out this video from Ayurvedic Health Practitioner Veronica Wolff-Casey and Yoga teacher Emilie Reid.

Try this simple 1 minute meditation to calm the nervous system and slow down your breath. It's especially effective for sitting in traffic.

Start by bringing your attention to your breath.
Notice your breathing in, and notice that you're breathing out.
As you inhale, say to yourself, "I am calm."
As you exhale, say to yourself, "I let go."

Continue a few more times. Watch as your breath slows down and the words get softer in your mind.

CONNECT WITH YOUR SOLES

Love getting a foot massage? Try massaging your own feet. Use a warming oil, like sesame or sunflower oil, massage your feet for a few minutes, then cover them with socks. The health benefits include boosting your immunity, reducing stress and helping prevent or repair plantar fascitis.

Check out this article from Yoga International for more on this great self-care ritual.

WHAT DO YOU REALLY LOVE?

WHAT DO YOU REALLY LOVE?

What do you really love? What activities nourish and inspire you? Perhaps it's a good book and a warm cup of tea. A piece of music that makes your skin tingle. Or playing with your children.

This year, instead of making new year's resolutions, write a list of things you love. No matter how small they seem.

And in moments where you have a sense of "I'm not sure what to do right now," turn to this list. It is in times of anxiety, stress, tension, and uncertainty that these activities can heal and nourish us most. Not that you have to wait for a dire moment to do them. The point is to do more of what you love.

DAY 21: THE END

DAY 21: THE END

During this #beinspired challenge, you've done many things. You've walked with loved ones, practiced yoga on your mat at home and at the studio with friends, listened to classical music and belted out classic rock songs in your car, knit scarves, watched speakers brave the stage to share their stories, swung on the swing with your children, started a book, finished a book, and started another book. And so much more.

But what you've really done over the last 21 days is to create your own catalog of activities that nourish and inspire you.

So on days when you there's a pause in your daily routine and you find yourself wondering, What can I do now?, take your dog for a walk, or watch a Ted Talk and learn something new.

And on the days when life feels tense or uncertain and you ask yourself, 'What should I do now?' return to this same list. Instead of trying to solve it all right away, ask yourself, 'what do I really love?' and do that.

Do more of the things that make you feel more really alive, the things you really love. That's what yoga--and really, life--is about.

DAY 21: THE END

"Just because last year’s holiday was a bust doesn’t mean things will go awry this time."

The holidays can be interesting. Being around family can bring out things in us we don't experience the rest of the year.

Remembering the best moment of each day can help it feel like a new beginning and bring awareness to the abundance we have in our lives.

Check out this article on Thanksgiving and the Practice of Gratitude and write down 3 things you're grateful for today.
